Catrin Finch Thursday 27th Oct 7.30PM £12
Catrin Finch is an International Welsh harpist and is one of the most accomplished harpists of her generation. Since her inspiration to learn the harp at the age of five, she has been delighting audiences with her performances in the UK and worldwide. She studied at The Purcell School and the Royal Academy of Music, where she studied with Skaila Kanga and received the Queen’s Award for the most outstanding student of her year. In 2000-2004, she had the honour of reviving the ancient tradition of Royal Harpist to H.R.H, the Prince of Wales, last held in 1873.
Colin Blunstone Friday 28th Oct 8PM £20
On the 27th April 1961, Colin Blunstone and the 4 other original members of The Zombies met outside The Blacksmith’s Arms, St. Albans, before their very first rehearsal. 55 years later, Blunstone’s still-superb vocals and his rarified arrangements effortlessly recall the band’s lingering legacy. This is the voice that gave us everything from their first single “She’s Not There” to “I Don’t Believe In Miracles”. “She’s Not There” received a “thumbs-up” from George Harrison on the panel of “Juke Box Jury”. “He really liked it,” said Blunstone. It then zoomed to No. 1 in the USA charts in 1964, only the second British USA No.1 after The Beatles .
Darius Brubeck Quartet Saturday 30th Oct 8PM £20
Son of the legendary jazz pianist Dave Brubeck, the quartet has been playing to sold-out houses in the UK, including London’s Ronnie Scott’s, as well as performing in Germany, Ireland and at the Edinburgh International Festival. They will come hot-foot from a Canadian tour, promoting their new CD, but no doubt some of the Brubeck classics of yesteryear will find their way into the set-list. This promises to be a very “cool” evening indeed!
